BUSINESS DOCUMENTATION

Documentation makes business sense

Every business naturally comes with several challenges and risks. From tough clients disputing small parts of the job or pricing to unexpected issues and defaulting clients. Mitigating these risks makes your company more efficient and profitable over the long run. Good business documentation ensures that legal options are available in case things go south.

How documentation helps

With any business, there are times when things don’t go according to plan. A freak accident at a house you were renovating that caused damage. Or the company who bought a big consignment from you goes under. In these cases, having proper business documentation in place can go a long way in helping you avoid losses and having to deal with bad debts.

Documentation like our comprehensive terms and conditions are made by the most experienced legal experts and are guaranteed to be enforceable in a court of law. Here are some things our documentation can help with:

Passing information over to debt collection agencies

With the introduction of the Privacy Act of 2020, you need written consent from clients to legally store or pass on their information to third-party agencies like debt collection companies. When you have best practice business documentation, you can make sure your client gives you this consent to pursue other options legally in case things don’t go according to plan.

Charging interest on overdue invoices

If you don’t get paid by your client on time, you are effectively losing money, thanks to inflation. With every passing day, inflation can quickly reduce the value of your unreturned capital. With the proper business documentation, you can legally collect up to 36% interest per annum on your unpaid amount, mitigate losses, and prompt payment.

Passing on collection costs

In addition to inflation eating away at your unpaid invoice, you will also incur debt collection costs. If you engage a third party or a collection agency to retrieve your capital, you will need to pay them a commission for the service. You can pass on these costs to your client, provided you have business documentation that clearly defines the measures you can take if your client defaults.

We guarantee our business documentation to be enforceable in any court in New Zealand, or we will refund you 100%. We also maintain regular contact with you and will provide one year's advance notice on any law changes that may affect business in the future so that you’re always compliant with current laws.
